About Eyes Around the World

The World Council of Optometry is pleased to announce 'Eyes Around the World: A Global Day of Learning

The global COVID pandemic has limited the opportunities for practitioners to see our colleagues face to face as we attend conferences and continuing education programs. However, WCO has worked to keep our members connected through digital platforms presenting key seminars on the topics of myopia and dry eye.

Building on the success of these seminars, WCO is hosting Eyes Around the World – A Global Day of Learning. This is an extension of the commitment of WCO to uplift the standard of clinical practice and optometry education as well as to become a regular resource for optometrists around the globe. This exciting continuing education day will encompass 3 time zones over 24 hours on November 20th, 2021. The goal is to engage optometrists from around the world as we share and learn.

The conference program will include speakers from 12 countries with presentations aimed at both practising clinicians and optometric educators.

Over the course of the day, the 21 hours of presentations will cover clinically relevant topics such as diabetes, dry eye management, myopia management and specialty contact lenses. Optometric educators will find sessions on navigating the changing world of online clinical and didactic teaching and other valuable topics.

Thanks to all the speakers who graciously heeded our call for presentations. A special thanks to the WCO staff (Susan Cooper, Alyssa Callaghan, Allison Bartnick and Kathleen Alonso) for their tireless efforts as well as Karen Sparrow and Bina Patel from the congress committee for so selflessly giving us their time and expertise. A special thanks to the India Vision Institute for their event management skills.

We look forward to you joining our global community of practitioners and educators as we strive to equip ourselves with the tools to move our profession forward thus impacting on the access to quality eye care for our patients.

Lectures will be available online following the webinar for registrants. Multiple lectures will be COPE & CET approved.
