Dr Jia Jia Lek is an educator, optometrist and vision researcher. Dr Jia Jia graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a Diploma in Optometry with merit. She then pursued a Bachelor of Optometry in the University of Melbourne and returned to Singapore and worked as a senior optometry lecturer. In her time in Singapore Polytechnic, she enjoyed her role in educating both optometrists and opticians. She also played an active role in local and overseas community eye screening projects. Dr Jia Jia then returned to Melbourne and obtained her Postgraduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics, and gained her PhD from the University of Melbourne for investigating contrast processing in early glaucoma. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the Centre of Eye Research Australia with her research focused on identifying early changes and treatment methods in age-related macular degeneration. She is currently lecturing in the Doctor of Optometry program in the University of Melbourne.
